Raya Snubs Gyokeres, Eze, as He Names Arsenal’s Standout Summer Signing

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has revealed who he considers to be the most impressive among the club’s summer recruits, overlooking several other high-profile signings who joined the North London side ahead of the current campaign.

The Gunners, managed by Mikel Arteta, were among the Premier League’s biggest spenders during the last transfer window, investing over £250 million to bolster the squad as they continue their pursuit of both domestic and European success.

A host of talented players arrived at the Emirates Stadium, including Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, Piero Hincapie, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

However, speaking in an interview with ESPN, Raya singled out Zubimendi as the player who has made the biggest impression on him since the start of the season. The Spanish goalkeeper praised his compatriot for his intelligence, composure, and seamless adaptation to the demands of English football.

“I think Martin Zubimendi,” Raya said when asked which new signing had impressed him the most. “He’s a very clever player who has adapted extremely well to the Premier League. It’s not easy, especially for someone in his position, where the pace and physicality can take time to get used to. But he has settled in quickly, and you can already see the difference he makes for the team.”

Zubimendi joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad, where he had established himself as one of LaLiga’s most promising midfielders. Known for his tactical awareness, precise passing, and ability to control the tempo of play, the 25-year-old has seamlessly transitioned into Arteta’s setup, providing stability and creativity in the middle of the park.
