Rangers striker Chermiti sidelined by serious injury

Rangers forward Youssef Chermiti is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining a serious ACL injury during a loss to Hibernian.

Youssef Chermiti faces an extended time on the sidelines after suffering anterior cruciate ligament damage. The injury occurred during Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Hibernian when the 22-year-old collided with advertising hoardings following a heavy challenge, resulting in his removal from the pitch on a stretcher.

The club confirmed via social media that the forward will be unavailable for a significant period. The Portuguese player joined Rangers from Everton in September 2025 in a deal reported to be the club’s largest transfer expenditure since 2000. Since his arrival, he has recorded 15 goals in 43 appearances.

The injury comes shortly after Rangers rejected a transfer bid for the striker. Before the match, manager Derek McInnes addressed rumors linking Chermiti to Galatasaray, noting that no external offer had met the club’s valuation. McInnes emphasized his desire to retain the high-potential forward to help develop the current squad.
