Michael Olise’s father revealed to be a celebrated Nigerian cricketer

Bayern Munich and France sensation Michael Olise comes from a sporting family, with his father, Vincent Olise, having served as a prominent Nigerian international cricketer.

Michael Olise, currently starring for France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has a family history rooted in elite sports beyond the football pitch. Recent reports from The Sun Sport highlight that his father, Vincent Olise, was a distinguished international cricketer for Nigeria.

Vincent Olise, 66, competed on the international stage between 1983 and 1993. His resume includes stints with Lagos State, the Foundations Cricket Club, and the Nigerian national squad. A career highlight saw him equal a national record by taking 10 wickets in a single innings during a match against Gambia at the West African Quadrangular tournament.

While Michael Olise chose to represent France internationally—having been eligible for England, Nigeria, and Algeria—he has openly credited his father’s influence on his life. The Bayern Munich forward has also noted that he maintains an interest in cricket outside of his professional football commitments.
