Quarter-Final Exits Confirmed for Two WAFCON 2026 Teams

Ivory Coast and South Africa have been eliminated from the WAFCON 2026 quarter-finals following losses to Algeria and Morocco.

The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) saw two nations exit the competition during the quarter-final round. Ivory Coast and South Africa were both knocked out of the tournament.

Ivory Coast fell 2-1 to Algeria this past Saturday. Despite an early lead from Inès Konan, goals by Inès Khiri and Amira Ould Braham secured the win for Algeria. Meanwhile, South Africa suffered a 2-1 defeat against the host nation, Morocco. While Thembi Kgatlana scored for Banyana Banyana, strikes from Sakina Ouzraoui and Hanan Ait El Haj ensured Morocco advanced to the semi-finals.

Additional teams will see their tournament journeys end today, as Nigeria is set to play Cameroon while Malawi competes against Ghana in the remaining quarter-final matchups.
