Presidential Jet Quietly Delisted From Market As Questions Grow Over Its Status

The plot surrounding Nigeria’s presidential Boeing 737-700 BBJ has taken a curious turn, as the marketing company tasked with selling it has silently pulled the aircraft from its listings, leaving more questions than answers.

“We no longer have the listing on the Boeing. You will need to reach out to the Nigerian Government for information as to what has become of the aircraft.”

No explanation. No update. No trace of the jet on JetHQ’s site.

Meanwhile, inquiries directed at the National Security Adviser’s office remain unanswered, despite earlier promises of clarification.

This development comes months after the plane was first put up for sale in July 2025, part of the Federal Government’s cost-cutting and fleet-slimming initiative under President Bola Tinubu. Yet by October, four months later, the jet remained unsold, though JetHQ insisted back then that it was still “available” even after declining to disclose further details, citing proprietary restrictions.

Before disappearing from the market listings, records showed the aircraft had undergone significant refurbishment at AMAC’s Basel, Switzerland facility in 2024:
– Updated first-class seats
– New cabin carpeting
– C1–C2 major inspections

Despite its age, a pre-owned Boeing 737 BBJ still commands an average value of around $56 million, depending on its configuration and maintenance history. Nigeria acquired the aircraft in 2005 for $43 million during the Obasanjo administration, and it has since remained a central piece of the Presidential Air Fleet.
