President Tinubu Praises Wike for Improving FCT Infrastructure Services

President Bola Tinubu has commissioned a new road project in Abuja, commending FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for improving project delivery while Wike warned local officials against renaming federal infrastructure.

President Bola Tinubu has formally opened the newly developed Akinwumi Ajibola Street and associated local routes in the Gaduwa District of Abuja. Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the President lauded FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for fundamentally altering the standard of infrastructure delivery in the capital. Tinubu highlighted that under Wike’s leadership, the territory has moved past a history of stalled projects, emphasizing that the administration now ensures consistent funding and clear objectives for all public works.

The President noted that this specific project addresses long-standing neglect that previously left residents without accessible roads. He encouraged the local community to safeguard the new infrastructure by maintaining drains and preventing vandalism. During the ceremony, Minister Wike issued a firm caution to the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, regarding the unauthorized renaming of federal roads. Wike stressed that while local councils have naming rights, they must secure federal approval before rebranding projects funded and built by the central government.

Wike further noted that this project is part of an extensive 31-day initiative marking the current administration’s third year. He reiterated that President Tinubu’s directive remains to spread development across all districts and satellite towns. The Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, echoed these sentiments, noting that the completed street serves as a key milestone in the government’s ongoing effort to upgrade facilities across the capital territory under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
