A man identified as Mohammed Sani has been arrested for allegedly beating his pregnant wife, Hauwa Isah, to death in Limawa area of Minna, Niger State. The incident, which has sparked outrage locally, occurred on Tuesday, June 3.

According to Sahara Reporters, neighbours reported hearing distress sounds from the couple’s residence, but by the time they intervened, Hauwa was already lifeless. Local sources described the scene as harrowing, with visible bloodstains in the room where she was found.

Hauwa’s father, devastated by the loss, revealed that Sani had a history of violence. “This is not the first time he has laid hands on my daughter. We warned him several times, but he didn’t stop. Now he has killed her,” he said.

He continued, “She was rushed to General hospital Minna where she was confirmed de@d and it was also confirmed that she is about nine months pregnant.

“However, the husband, one Mohammed Sani 31yrs of the same address is suspected to have committed the act due to the allegation of wife battery as alleged by neighbours”.
