Police report break-in attempt at Lamine Yamal’s residence following France match

Intruders targeted the home of Spanish football star Lamine Yamal following his team’s victory over France in the World Cup semi-final.

Law enforcement officials and news outlets confirmed that intruders attempted to gain access to the Barcelona residence of Spanish forward Lamine Yamal on Wednesday. This event took place shortly after the player contributed to Spain’s success in reaching their second World Cup final.

A representative for the Catalan police confirmed an attempted break-in occurred at a property in Esplugues de Llobregat, on the periphery of Barcelona. While police withheld the owner’s name for security reasons, the local publication La Vanguardia identified the home as belonging to the 19-year-old athlete.

Reports indicate that two masked individuals scaled the perimeter wall of the estate but retreated after being detected by private security personnel. The property, once occupied by former Barcelona player Gerard Pique and singer Shakira, remains recognizable due to its previous high-profile residents.

The incident happened early Wednesday morning, shortly after Spain secured a 2-0 win against France in Texas. During that match, Yamal earned a penalty kick that teammate Mikel Oyarzabal successfully converted. This type of crime has affected other prominent football players in Spain, including Dani Carvajal, Rodrygo, and Karim Benzema, in previous years.
