Police in Osun Apprehend Three Suspects for Attempted Attack on APC Campaign Leader

Osun State police have arrested three suspects for an alleged assassination attempt on APC campaign director Hon. Wole Oke during a visit to Ipetu-Ijesa.

Authorities in Osun State have taken three individuals into custody regarding a suspected murder plot against Hon. Wole Oke, the Director-General of the APC campaign. Olamilekan Oriyomi, 24, Ayotunde Ikupolati, 44, and Femi Fakinleye, 31, were detained following an incident at the palace of the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesa on June 30.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan, represented by DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, stated that the arrests were the result of strategic intelligence operations. Police reports indicate that after a meeting at the palace, a group of suspected Eiye Confraternity members, led by Oriyomi, intercepted the entourage of Hon. Oke. Law enforcement officials claim that Oriyomi brandished a loaded Beretta pistol and intended to target the politician, but was neutralized by the local Divisional Police Officer.

While the police recovered the weapon and arrested the primary suspect at the scene, Ikupolati and Fakinleye were detained shortly thereafter. Authorities are currently searching for a man named Busuyi Akinwole, who allegedly provided the firearm. Investigators are also looking into other influential figures implicated by the suspects’ testimonies.

During a public parade, Oriyomi denied the assassination claims. While acknowledging his membership in the Eiye Confraternity and his profession as a disc jockey, he insisted he was only at the location to provide security at the request of his group leader.
