Authorities in the Niger State Police Command have taken two individuals into custody regarding the kidnapping of a four-week-old infant in Minna. The suspects are 24-year-old Chidi Johnson, also called Yaron Pastor, and 22-year-old Zainab Ibrahim. They were caught following a formal investigation into the July 14 incident near the Mobil Roundabout.
SP Wasi’u Abiodun, the police spokesperson, confirmed that the case began with a report at the A Division Police Station. During questioning, Johnson admitted that Ibrahim had requested his assistance in securing a baby after she reportedly lost her pregnancy. Police state that Johnson manipulated a nursing mother by promising her charitable donations of food and supplies. He convinced the woman to follow him to a construction site near the roundabout.
Once at the location, Johnson provided the mother with refreshments to lower her guard. He then took the infant under the pretense of playing with the child and fled the scene on a motorcycle. Following his arrest, police located Ibrahim. The baby has since been recovered and returned to the family. Both suspects remain in police custody and will face legal proceedings once the investigation concludes.
