Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu recently presided over the decoration of 13 newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and 17 Commissioners of Police. During the ceremony, he stressed that these advancements carry increased responsibilities rather than serving as simple recognition for past successes.
The IGP praised the officers for their resilience and dedication, acknowledging the heavy personal sacrifices they have made, such as time away from their families and difficult working environments. He urged them to function as mentors for junior personnel, noting that their conduct and character will now define the standard for others to follow.
Emphasizing ethics, Disu demanded that the officers lead with complete integrity while showing zero tolerance for corruption or power abuse. He underscored the necessity of building a modern, technology-focused police force that prioritizes public trust to ensure effective community security.
The Inspector-General also acknowledged the families of the officers for their patience and support during their careers. Furthermore, he thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his ongoing backing and commended the Police Service Commission for maintaining a transparent and fair promotion process. He concluded by calling on the new leadership to inspire hope through disciplined and accountable service.
