Police Arrest Notorious Robbery Suspect, Recover Stolen Motorcycles in Anambra

Police operatives in Anambra State have arrested a suspected motorcycle robber, Chiemerie Okeke, for allegedly attacking a couple and snatching their motorcycle in Iruowelle Village, Awka-Etiti, Idemili South LGA.

Reports say the couple was on their way home when Okeke and an accomplice intercepted them, seized the motorcycle, and fled.

Police spokesperson DSP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that officers from the Nnobi Division, in collaboration with the Awka-Etiti Vigilante Group, apprehended the suspect. Four Kymco 125 motorcycles believed to have been stolen in previous robberies were recovered during the operation.

Ikenga noted that the arrest followed a complaint on October 11, 2025, from a victim who reported that he and his wife were attacked and their motorcycle stolen.

“Through surveillance and intelligence-led investigation, operatives tracked and arrested the suspect, recovering the stolen bikes,” Ikenga stated.

Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu commended the swift collaboration between the police and the vigilante group and urged residents to continue sharing credible information to support the fight against crime.

The suspect and the recovered motorcycles are currently in custody as investigations continue.
