The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned 67-year-old Danjuma Antu, a farmer from Plateau State, at the Federal High Court in Abuja. He faces charges related to the illegal possession of locally manufactured firearms and ammunition.
Justice Ekerete Udofot Akpan presided over the hearing, which concerns an incident on June 27, 2025, near Kabong Primary School in the Jos North Local Government Area. Prosecutors allege that Antu possessed two homemade pistols and 9mm ammunition without the required licenses, violating the Firearms Act of 2004. Furthermore, he is accused of transporting these weapons to support terrorism within Plateau State, a charge brought under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act of 2022.
Following a plea of not guilty, the court granted Antu bail set at N200 million. To secure his release, he must provide two sureties who are Abuja residents, hold fully developed property, and surrender original title documents to the court. Additional conditions include the submission of bank statements, passports, and recent photographs. Antu remains in DSS custody until these requirements are met. The court has scheduled the start of the full trial for June 25.
