Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has secured his future at the club by signing a new four-year deal that runs until 2030. The 26-year-old, whose previous contract was set to conclude next summer, chose to remain with the team under the leadership of new head coach Enzo Maresca.
Since making his debut at age 17 under Pep Guardiola, Foden has accumulated 369 appearances, securing six Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy, and two FA Cups. Reflecting on the extension, Foden expressed his deep attachment to the club, stating that representing Manchester City remains his primary ambition.
The playmaker is eager to reunite with Maresca, whom he admired during the Italian’s time as an assistant during City’s historic Treble-winning season. Foden’s role within the squad has evolved over recent years; tactical adjustments have seen him operating in deeper positions compared to his previous high-scoring campaigns. Following a challenging season where he recorded seven goals and five assists in 33 league appearances, the Professional Footballers’ Association noted that the intensity of the fixture list may have impacted his recent form.
