Enoch Adeboye, who heads the Redeemed Christian Church of God, recently stated that the public should not look for President Bola Tinubu to personally engage in military combat to solve Nigeria’s security challenges. Speaking at the US-Nigeria faith heroes award gala in Washington, Adeboye defended the president’s role, asserting that executive authority relies on issuing directives rather than physical participation in warfare.
The cleric explicitly rejected criticism directed at the president regarding his handling of regional insecurity. He illustrated his point by comparing the role of a head of state to that of former President Donald Trump, suggesting that a leader’s primary responsibility is to issue strategic commands while subordinates execute the operations. Despite acknowledging that the terrorism situation has deteriorated recently, Adeboye maintained his firm support for the administration’s current approach.
