Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, has addressed assertions made by social media personality Martins Vincent, also known as VeryDarkMan, who claimed that the government provided a ransom for the liberation of recently abducted pupils and teachers. The Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, released an official statement dismissing these accusations as groundless and characterizing them as the product of reckless online reporting.
According to Oyelade, the state and federal authorities are actively coordinating efforts to secure the victims taken on May 15 from the Oriire Local Government Area. He emphasized that no funds have been handed over to kidnappers. The government has encouraged citizens to ignore these inaccurate claims and instead monitor official communications. Furthermore, the state remains dedicated to securing the safe release of those held captive and resolving this distressing situation.
