Osun Political Camps Trade Blame Following Fatalities and Traffic Incident

Political rivalry intensifies in Osun State as the APC and the Imole Campaign Council trade accusations following a murder in Esa-Oke and a fatal road accident in Ede.

Political friction escalated in Osun State this Wednesday as the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Imole Campaign Council traded blame over recent tragic events ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial vote. Tensions peaked following the death of Ajayi Aderogba, an Accord Party member, in Esa-Oke on Tuesday, coupled with a fatal road accident involving APC supporters traveling to a rally in Ede.

Pelumi Olajengbesi, representing the Adeleke Campaign Organisation, accused Oluwole Oke, a member of the House of Representatives and campaign lead for the APC, of being involved in the violence against Aderogba. Olajengbesi claimed Oke attempted to disrupt political activities in Esa-Oke, leading to the fatality.

In response, Oke’s media aide, Tunde Omolebi-Sunday, dismissed the claims as unfounded and irresponsible. He urged security forces to conduct a formal probe rather than relying on speculation. Oke also extended his condolences to the bereaved family.

Separately, the Imole Campaign Council offered sympathies regarding a tragic accident in Ede where a truck reportedly experienced brake failure, hitting a group of APC supporters. While the council expressed sorrow over the incident, it also criticized the APC for continuing its campaign events immediately following the tragedy.
