Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, who represents the Osun Central Senatorial District, has officially departed from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This move follows his dissatisfaction with the APC’s candidate selection process for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Thursday, Fadeyi confirmed that he has submitted a formal notification to the Senate regarding his switch. He also announced that he has been designated as the PDP candidate for the Osun Central seat, aligned with the party faction headed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Fadeyi explained that he originally joined the APC in July 2025 to back President Bola Tinubu, under the impression that he would be granted the party’s sole ticket for his district through a consensus arrangement.
However, the APC eventually selected Adekunle Adegoke, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, for the position. Fadeyi argued that the lack of transparency, broken promises, and the failure of the promised consensus process made his continued presence in the APC impossible. He emphasized that his departure is not a slight against President Tinubu but rather a stand for integrity and democratic fairness within political organizations.
