The leadership of Ossiomo Power Company, located in Ologbo, Edo State, has issued a formal notice of intent to initiate contempt of court proceedings against Jiangsu Communication Clean Energy Technology Co. Ltd (CCETC). This move follows accusations that the Chinese firm is consistently ignoring legal directives issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja and the Edo State High Court in Benin City.
On Friday, August 7, 2026, company spokesperson Ralph Okhiria stated that CCETC has repeatedly engaged in activities that ignore existing court mandates requiring a status quo ante. Okhiria emphasized that his company is committed to following legal channels, but must now pursue contempt charges to address these persistent violations.
Specifically, the power firm claims that on August 6, 2026, personnel from CCETC utilized an excavator to trespass onto Ossiomo property, where they installed concrete utility poles. This act allegedly violates direct prohibitions from multiple courts regarding the protection of Ossiomo’s infrastructure, including its gas plant and power lines. The company also alleged that CCETC staff have acted alongside individuals to intimidate security personnel and interfere with daily operations.
Okhiria urged law enforcement and government agencies to intervene to prevent potential unrest and ensure that CCETC respects the ongoing judicial process. This development follows previous claims by Ossiomo Power on August 1, 2026, regarding CCETC’s attempts to use administrative petitions to influence separate ongoing litigation centered on ownership disputes.
