Oscar Discharged From Hospital After Heart Scare, Set For Short Medical Rest

Former Chelsea and Brazil playmaker Oscar has been released from hospital after a heart-related scare during São Paulo’s pre-season preparations.

The 34-year-old was taking part in routine physical tests at the club’s training facility last Tuesday when he suddenly fell ill, prompting urgent medical attention and subsequent admission to Einstein Hospital Israelita.

In a statement shared on Monday, São Paulo confirmed that Oscar was discharged on Sunday and remained “stable and clinically well” throughout his time in hospital.

Doctors traced the episode to vasovagal syncope a common fainting spell triggered by a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate.

The club noted that he will now observe a short period of medical rest before rejoining full activities.

Oscar, who began his career at São Paulo, re-signed with the team last year on a three-year contract following an eight-year spell in China.
