The Ondo State Police Command has taken six individuals into custody following a targeted operation in the Akungba and Iwaro Akoko regions. Operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SACS) conducted the raid in the early morning of June 16, 2026, acting on intelligence regarding local gang activity.
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the police spokesperson, named the detainees as Damilare Kayode, Adejoro Godwin, Adedapo Ogunro, Chisom Okechukwu, Ademulegun Imisi, and Odugunle Bukola. Initial findings suggest these individuals were involved in illegal group activities within the Akoko area.
During the sweep, officers seized various items, including five battle axes, a jackknife, charms, and specific uniform pieces such as yellow singlets, boots, and face caps. These items are currently being processed as evidence for the ongoing investigation, which will eventually lead to the suspects being charged in court.
Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu described the operation as a significant success, highlighting the force’s determination to disrupt criminal networks. He praised the officers’ conduct and emphasized that the command is strictly following directives to suppress violent crime. The police are now using the recovered intelligence to identify additional members of the group and have called on the public to continue providing tips to help keep the state secure.
