Ojukwu Transport Limited reports missing case files in property dispute

Ojukwu Transport Limited has formally challenged the recurring absence of case files in its ongoing property litigation, while moving to stall the enforcement of a prior judgment during its active appeal.

Ojukwu Transport Limited (OTL) has expressed significant alarm regarding the frequent disappearance of court records concerning its legal battle with Bianca Ojukwu and her children. The firm has concurrently submitted a motion to halt the execution of the judgment while its appeal remains active.

On Monday, Justice A.M. Lawal of the Ikeja High Court was forced to delay proceedings for the second time in less than two months. The courtroom session could not move forward because the necessary case file was missing. A comparable delay took place on May 8, 2026, for the same reason.

OTL claims the documentation was moved from the Ikeja division to Lagos over eight weeks ago to facilitate a warrant execution but was never returned. Notably, the legal counsel for the claimants did not attend either of these sessions. OTL has criticized these repeated delays as problematic, noting that the missing records have effectively paralyzed the litigation process.

In the meantime, the company has officially lodged a motion at the Court of Appeal to stop any immediate enforcement of the 2022 ruling regarding Suit No. LD/1539/2012. OTL argues this action is essential to protect its position while the appellate court reviews the case. Furthermore, the firm noted that the properties involved were previously associated with a 2018 judgment by Justice Adedayo Oyebanji in Suit No. LD/794/2011.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for October 8, 2026. Dr. P. Ike Ojukwu, a director at OTL, represented the firm in person at the recent proceedings. Legal representation for OTL includes Ifeanyi Okumah and Chief O. Ugolo, SAN, while Nick Omeye is representing the Ojukwu family.
