Ogun State Advocates for Increased Utilization of Emergency Ambulance Services

In observance of World Ambulance and Paramedics Day, Ogun State officials are urging residents to utilize the state’s expanded emergency response fleet and 24-hour call center.

The Ogun State Government is encouraging its citizens to utilize the local emergency medical system by dialing their dedicated hotline during health crises. This message was delivered during a public awareness walk in Abeokuta, held in honor of the 2026 World Ambulance and Paramedics Day.

Health Commissioner Tomi Coker, represented by Permanent Secretary Kayode Oladehinde, praised emergency responders for their vital role in preserving lives. The state credited Governor Dapo Abiodun for significant investments that have grown the fleet from four to 30 ambulances, now spread across all 20 local government areas. These efforts include the introduction of 80 tricycle ambulances for rural areas and two boat ambulances for riverine regions like Ipokia and Ogun Waterside.

The state operates a 24-hour emergency line at 08112000033. Festus Adetonwa, Deputy Director of the Ogun State Ambulance and Emergency Services, emphasized that public awareness is essential for effective emergency response, confirming that skilled medical personnel are ready to provide care and patient transport at any time of the day.
