Local residents near Benin Airport reported witnessing an Enugu Air plane veer off the runway, with some claiming an object detached from the aircraft during the event. Witnesses described hearing a sudden, loud sound before observing the plane struggling during its landing procedure.
Michael Udoh, a bystander, recounted hearing a massive noise and initially fearing an object had plummeted from the sky. Upon investigating, he discovered the aircraft resting on the ground. Another resident, Moses Idowu, noted that the plane seemed to ascend and descend repeatedly amid heavy rain, suggesting a potential engine failure before it eventually slid off the track.
Reports indicate that any passengers needing medical attention were transported to a nearby private clinic. Enugu Air officially addressed the incident, stating that their flight suffered a runway excursion upon arrival in Benin. The airline confirmed that everyone on board, including passengers and crew, evacuated safely without any fatalities or serious injuries.
