The Nigerian Navy is upholding its strict oversight of illicit refining locations in Rivers State through Operation DELTA SENTINEL. By maintaining a constant presence, the force has successfully blocked efforts by criminal groups to restart previously destroyed equipment.
According to an official report released Sunday by the Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the navy remains vigilant. On July 10, crews from NNS PATHFINDER located and shut down several illegal sites in the Egbema area of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni. Despite these disruptions, offenders attempted to bring the sites back online, leading to renewed patrols.
In the most recent action, NNS PATHFINDER personnel neutralized two reactivated sites. They seized roughly 76,000 liters of crude oil and 50,000 liters of illegally processed Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) hidden in reservoirs and pits. These combined seizures total more than 126,000 liters of recovered product.
Captain Folorunsho emphasized that these efforts prove the navy’s resolve to prevent oil thieves from establishing any long-term base. The recovered goods were managed according to standard anti-theft protocols. The military remains dedicated to using intelligence-led tactics to dismantle these networks and safeguard national economic assets.
