A joint task force consisting of the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS) has taken a suspected bomb-maker into custody. The individual is allegedly affiliated with the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its paramilitary group, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), within Abia State.
Security expert Zagazola Makama reported the incident via social media, referencing reports from security agencies. The tactical mission occurred during the early hours of July 12, specifically around 3:50 a.m., in the Ummuene area of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.
Soldiers from the 14 Brigade headquarters teamed up with DSS officials from both Abia and Enugu States to conduct the raid, which was triggered by verified intelligence. Beyond capturing the suspect, authorities seized two mobile devices found at the scene.
The individual and the confiscated electronics have been transferred to the DSS Abia State Command to facilitate a deeper investigation. Officials stated that this mission is one component of a broader strategy to neutralize militant organizations and criminal syndicates across the South-East region.
