Armed individuals kidnap students, principal, and NECO staff in Kogi State

A group of gunmen abducted several students, a principal, and an examination official from a school in Kogi State during a Tuesday evening attack.

On Tuesday evening, a group of armed assailants targeted Government Secondary School located in Odo-Ekina, within the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. During the attack, which interrupted ongoing NECO examinations, four students, the school principal, and a temporary NECO employee were taken captive.

ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, the spokesperson for the Kogi State Police, confirmed the event on Wednesday, noting that the assault began around 5:25 p.m. Law enforcement agencies immediately initiated a rescue mission to track the kidnappers and secure the victims.

Authorities have successfully retrieved one of the abducted students and continue to search for the remaining individuals. Commissioner of Police Naziru Bello Kankarofi, accompanied by military leadership and state security advisors, traveled to the school to personally evaluate the scene. The police have pledged to maintain order and provide updates as the investigation continues.
