The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially dismissed rumors spreading online that suggested a terrorist attack occurred at the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) in Monguno, Borno State. An official statement released Monday by the Federal Ministry of Education, signed by spokesperson Folasade Boriowo, confirmed the institution is secure.
These reports caused significant alarm among parents regarding potential casualties. However, the ministry stated that no such attack took place at the school. All students, staff, and facilities are safe, and the academic calendar continues without interruption.
Minister of Education Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa emphasized that safeguarding students in federal institutions is a top priority. He noted that the school is protected by strict security protocols. The ministry clarified that the incident in question involved remedial students unaffiliated with the college, and those individuals are currently receiving support from the Borno State Government.
