Soldiers from Operation Hadin Kai have successfully captured a member of the Nigerian Army who was wanted for allegedly providing military equipment to terror groups in the North-East. Private Mohammed Yusuf, identified as 23NA/84/1939 and stationed at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Training Facility in Lagos, was detained on July 25 at approximately 6:30 p.m. The arrest was executed by the 7 Provost Group.
Authorities reported that Yusuf had deserted his post on July 7, relocating to Maiduguri. He was reportedly assisted by another soldier, Private Baba Kamal Sale of the Corps of Intelligence, who allegedly hid him in the Gomari Costain neighborhood of Jere, Borno State. Military personnel tracked the suspect using reliable intelligence and took him into custody at Jidari Bus Stop as he attempted to escape across the border into Cameroon.
The suspect is presently held by the 7 Provost Group for interrogation. Officials view this capture as a vital step in identifying and neutralizing internal networks that support insurgent activities.
