Nigerian striker Joy Omewa has officially signed with BK Häcken, the current champions of the Swedish league, as confirmed by reports from the Daily Post. Swedish media outlet STV noted that the club successfully secured the forward as a free agent. Omewa previously played for the English side Nottingham Forest, but her tenure there concluded last month when her contract ended.
Now 23, she will link up with fellow Super Falcons player Halimat Ayinde at her new club. Both women are currently listed in the roster for Nigeria’s campaign in the 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations. Omewa began her professional journey in 2021 with the Danish club Boldklubben af 1893. Following a short stay there, she transferred to Fortuna Hjørring. During the 2024/2025 season, she was instrumental in securing a domestic double for Fortuna Hjørring, netting 22 goals across 24 league games.
