New Road Projects Cement Kwali as FCT’s Agricultural Center, Says Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has commissioned the Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji road in the FCT, a project designed to boost agricultural output and rural development in the Kwali Area Council.

President Bola Tinubu has asserted that the development of road networks across the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is transforming the region into a primary food production hub. Speaking through Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the inauguration of the Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji Road in Dafa on Tuesday, the President highlighted that the improved infrastructure will allow farmers to transport produce more efficiently and reduce post-harvest waste.

Tinubu emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that development is not exclusive to urban centers. By connecting rural communities like Gomani, Dafa, and Yangoji to markets, schools, and hospitals, the administration aims to ensure that the nation’s wealth benefits all citizens. He noted that previously, poor access caused crops to decay and discouraged youth from remaining in rural areas.

The President praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his effective leadership and dedication to bringing development to satellite towns. Minister Wike explained that the project was a direct response to a request made by the Etsu Kwali, Luka Nizassan III, during a community engagement session intended to identify local priorities.

Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, detailed that the Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji road constitutes the final segment of a 43.4-kilometer secondary regional road network. This project provides a critical link to the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway, fostering better connectivity and economic opportunities for the region.
