Nathaniel Bassey, Pastor Eze Demand Urgent Action on Nigeria’s Security Crisis
Prominent gospel musician Nathaniel Bassey and renowned clergy leader Pastor Jerry Eze have issued a strong call for immediate and decisive action from the Nigerian government and security forces to curb the escalating threats of terrorism, banditry, and kidnappings nationwide.
In a social media statement released on Wednesday, Pastor Eze expressed indignation and offered a prayer against the perpetrators and those backing them, declaring, “About time, God of judgement spares no enemy of Nigeria and their sponsors in Jesus’ name. Enough is enough of this banditry, terrorism, and wickedness.”
Nathaniel Bassey shared his deep concern over the national security situation, emphasizing the critical need for accountability and firm action.
He urged the government, military, intelligence services, and all citizens to come together to fight the criminal elements, concluding, “Peace shall reign in Nigeria. Nigeria shall prosper and fulfil her destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
The appeal by the religious figures comes in the wake of recent high-profile violent events, including an attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, where suspected bandits killed at least two worshippers; The abduction of 25 students from the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, during which a school staff member was murdered.
These attacks have triggered broad condemnation, with other influential figures in the entertainment industry, including actors and comedians, also pressing the government to take immediate steps to address the pervasive insecurity.
