Security forces in Nasarawa State have successfully recovered four individuals who had been abducted. The rescue occurred during a mission led by the Andaha Police Division in the Akwanga area.
Superintendent of Police Rahman Nansel reported that authorities responded to an emergency call on July 21, 2026, regarding suspicious activity near the Megona Filling Station. Officers arriving at the Akwanga–Jos Road location were met with gunfire from the perpetrators. A fierce exchange followed, during which the police utilized superior tactics to overpower the attackers. Ultimately, the suspects fled into the forest, leaving behind their captives.
The four victims were found unharmed. Police also recovered stolen shop merchandise at the scene. State Police Commissioner Shetima Jauro Mohammed praised the personnel for their decisive action. He has now mobilized a joint task force involving military units, local hunters, and vigilante members to conduct an extensive search for the fugitives. Authorities are encouraging the public to remain alert and share any relevant information that might assist in capturing those responsible.
