NAF Airstrikes Decimate Terrorists In Niger State Amid Renewed Offensive
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the successful elimination of scores of terrorists in Niger State during a string of targeted airstrikes under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1. The coordinated offensive, which ran from June 24 to 26, 2025, was aimed at suppressing insurgent elements responsible for a recent wave of violence in the region.
According to a statement released Friday in Abuja by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, the airstrikes were based on “credible and actionable intelligence” gathered through a collaborative inter-service and inter-agency framework.
Ejodame noted that surveillance and reconnaissance operations had pinpointed heightened terrorist activities—including cattle rustling and violent attacks—around the Kakihun and Kumbashi communities in the state. Following confirmation, NAF aircraft carried out precision strikes on identified hideouts, effectively dismantling key terrorist logistics and neutralising numerous fighters.
“These airstrikes were conducted in synergy with surface troops and sister agencies, showcasing the potency of joint operations in degrading the operational capacity of terrorist groups threatening national peace,” the statement read.
The offensive forms part of a broader military campaign to reclaim territory and restore normalcy across Nigeria’s troubled North Central corridor.
“Swiftly deploying air assets, the Air Component executed multiple waves of precision strikes that neutralised scores of terrorists, destroyed their logistics, and disrupted regrouping efforts.
“The operation demonstrated NAF’s professionalism, rapid response capability, and strong coordination with ground forces and other agencies.
“The Nigerian Air Force remains resolutely committed to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians and ensuring lasting peace across the country,” he said. The Air Component executed multiple waves of precision strikes that neutralized scores of terrorists, destroyed their logistics, and disrupted regrouping efforts.
