Mukhtar Shagari Addresses Governor Fubara’s Choice to Skip APC Primaries

Former Sokoto Deputy Governor Mukhtar Shagari asserts that Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara independently decided to withdraw from the APC governorship primaries without outside interference.

Mukhtar Shagari, the former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, recently characterized Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara as a sophisticated and learned individual capable of making informed personal decisions. During an appearance on Arise Television this Thursday, Shagari addressed Fubara’s exit from the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial primary race.

Shagari emphasized that Fubara exited the 2027 electoral cycle entirely by his own volition. He clarified that no external pressure or coercion was involved in this move. According to Shagari, Fubara is an experienced leader who possesses the inherent right to engage in or abstain from democratic activities as he sees fit.

The former official urged the public to respect the Governor’s choice, noting that it followed careful internal consultations. He concluded that Fubara remains dedicated to his current political path and that his withdrawal should be viewed as a private matter rather than a subject for rumors.
