MRS Filling Stations Lower Petrol Prices for Second Time in a Fortnight

MRS filling stations in Abuja have cut petrol prices by N50 per liter, marking their second reduction in two weeks as global crude oil prices soften.

Following support from the Dangote Refinery, MRS fuel stations in Nigeria have implemented their second price decrease in two weeks. A Wednesday market check confirmed that MRS outlets in Abuja are now retailing petrol at N1,191 per liter, a drop from the previous N1,241.

This adjustment represents a N50 reduction per liter. As a result, drivers in the Abuja region are currently paying between N1,191 and N1,300 for fuel. In comparison, other retailers such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, AA Rano, and Empire Energy are dispensing fuel at rates ranging from N1,210 to N1,300 per liter.

This shift follows the Dangote Refinery’s recent adjustment of its ex-depot price to N1,125 per liter. Market expectations suggest that fuel costs could eventually approach N1,000 per liter as government authorities continue to emphasize price management. The downward trend in local prices coincides with a global decline in crude oil, with West Texas Intermediate and Brent now trading between $69 and $72 per barrel due to reduced regional instability in the Middle East.
