MOSOP Backs NSA-Led Dialogue as Prime Path for Ogoni Oil Resolution

MOSOP President Fegalo Nsuke has urged the Ogoni people to support a new federal dialogue initiative, viewing it as the best chance to end a 33-year standoff over oil exploration.

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has called on the Ogoni community to embrace the current negotiation framework led by the Office of the National Security Adviser. According to MOSOP President Fegalo Nsuke, speaking in Bori, this initiative represents the most viable chance to resolve the decades-long impasse surrounding oil activities in the region.

Nsuke highlighted that the federal government’s pivot toward collaborative dialogue is a major shift from past, forced methods. He emphasized that MOSOP fully backs these discussions as a means to foster regional development and economic health. He warned that certain parties, who profit from ongoing instability, are working to sabotage these peace efforts.

Regarding internal organizational matters, Nsuke rejected reports of a leadership split. He asserted that his mandate remains valid following a court nullification of a rival faction’s election, a case which is currently pending before the Court of Appeal. He stated that the present executive will continue its duties until legal matters are resolved and new elections are held.
