Mohamed Salah receives hero’s welcome in Turkey ahead of Trabzonspor transfer

Mohamed Salah was swarmed by fans upon arriving in Istanbul to complete his move to Turkish side Trabzonspor after leaving Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah has arrived in Turkey to finalize his move to Trabzonspor, greeted by a massive crowd of enthusiastic supporters at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul. The 34-year-old Egyptian captain, who departed Liverpool after nine highly successful seasons and 257 goals, was seen wearing the club’s colors while engaging with fans.

As a free agent, Salah joins the Super Lig side following a decorated tenure in England that included Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, and multiple individual accolades such as three PFA Player of the Year awards. His move follows a period of reduced playing time at Anfield under former manager Arne Slot. After a potential deal with Besiktas stalled, Trabzonspor secured the forward’s signature.

The club, nicknamed the Black Sea Storm, plans to hold an official presentation at Papara Park on Thursday. This signing marks a major shift in strategy for the club, which typically prioritizes young talent. By adding a global icon to a squad that features players like Andre Onana, Trabzonspor aims to boost attendance and commercial growth, hoping to challenge the dominance of rivals like Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.
