Military personnel detain suspected ISWAP informant for plotting Borno base attacks

Operation Hadin Kai forces have detained Muhammad Shuaibu, an alleged ISWAP operative, who was discovered plotting attacks against two Borno State military bases.

Members of Operation Hadin Kai captured a man accused of spying for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) due to an identified threat against two military installations in Borno State.

Soldiers from the 212 Battalion apprehended the individual, Muhammad Shuaibu, at the Forward Operating Base in Chabbol. He was spotted by patrol teams roughly 500 metres from the defensive perimeter of the camp, following reliable intelligence regarding a looming assault.

Initial reports indicate Shuaibu was involved in a conspiracy to strike both the 199 Special Forces Battalion, frequently called Mosquito Camp, and the Chabbol base. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the existence of the plot, asserting that militant fighters intended to carry out the mission even after his capture.

In response to the intelligence, the military reinforced security measures at these sites to prevent potential breaches. Shuaibu has been transferred to the 7 Military Intelligence Brigade for deep-level questioning as part of the broader efforts by Operation Hadin Kai to degrade insurgent infrastructure within North-East Nigeria.
