Military neutralizes eight terrorists during failed ambush in Katsina

Troops and hybrid forces successfully blocked a terrorist assault on the Kakumi–Guga Road in Katsina, killing eight fighters and seizing weapons.

Soldiers from the 17 Brigade, part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully prevented an attack against travelers on the Kakumi–Guga Road in Katsina State. Working alongside hybrid forces, the military eliminated eight suspected insurgents. Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the event, noting that the operation was based on intelligence suggesting that fighters following the commander Idi Abasu Aiki intended to target motorists.

Upon spotting the militants riding on five motorcycles, the security team set up an ambush. A heavy firefight ensued, resulting in the death of eight attackers. Following the clash, personnel secured two AK-47 rifles and the motorcycles used by the group. Currently, troops maintain a strong presence in the region through regular patrols to ensure road safety and prevent potential reprisal attacks as part of ongoing efforts to stabilize the North-West.
