Soldiers operating under Joint Task Force North West, known as Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully blocked militant activities across Zamfara State. Lt-Col Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer, confirmed that military personnel secured a major roadway after neutralizing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) found near Jabanda village in the Zurmi Local Government Area. This operation involved coordination with a police bomb disposal unit to ensure the route was safe for public travel.
During a subsequent patrol, troops confronted terrorists near Birnin Tsaba village, compelling the militants to retreat into nearby vegetation. The military sweep of the location yielded two motorcycles, tactical radio equipment, and camouflage headwear. In a separate mission within the Shinkafi Local Government Area, forces utilized superior combat strength to disperse a group of fighters, seizing additional military-style uniforms and transport vehicles.
Furthermore, authorities detained a 35-year-old logistics provider identified as Lawali Dan Alo near Maradun. A search of his belongings revealed over N5 million in cash and a communication device. Investigations suggest Dan Alo was acting as a courier for a militant commander to facilitate payments. This intelligence led to the arrest of another associate, Kasimu Garba, at his private residence.
