Melania Trump’s Cryptocurrency Valued at £1.4 Billion Within Minutes of Launch
On the eve of her husband’s inauguration, incoming First Lady Melania Trump introduced her own cryptocurrency, quickly earning billions within minutes of its launch.
“The Official Melania Meme is live! You can buy $MELANIA now,” she posted on X on Sunday night, Jan. 19, attracting nearly 20,000 investors within the first hour.

Just a day after Donald Trump introduced his $TRUMP crypto coin, which currently has a market valuation of approximately $12 billion (£9.8 billion), Melania Trump launched her own cryptocurrency, the $MELANIA coin, now valued at around $1.7 billion.
The official website for the $MELANIA coin describes it as a way to “show support for and engagement with the values embodied by Melania.” Both the $Trump and $Melania coins include disclaimers, stating they are “not intended to be, or the subject of” investment opportunities.
However, the launch of the $MELANIA coin led to an immediate crash in the value of the $TRUMP coin, causing billions to be wiped off its market price, although it has since regained some of the losses.
Trump, who had previously referred to cryptocurrency as a “scam,” appeared to change his stance during the 2024 election campaign, becoming the first presidential candidate to accept cryptocurrency donations.
