Martins Vincent Otse to Attend Police Inquiry in Abuja Following Case Relocation

Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VDM, has agreed to meet with the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja following the transfer of his case to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, with his lawyers calling for transparency and independent observation.

Social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VDM, has consented to participate in a Nigeria Police Force inquiry following the migration of his case to the Force Criminal Investigation Department at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. His legal counsel, Deji Adeyanju & Partners, emphasized that their client intends to cooperate fully while advocating for a transparent process that earns public trust.

In an official statement, the firm clarified that Otse is prepared to respond to lawful summons but requested that his attorneys and independent observers, including members of the Nigerian Bar Association and civil society groups, be allowed to attend the proceedings. Furthermore, Otse proposed that the interview be broadcast live to prevent potential misinformation, citing concerns about being framed.

Separately, legal representatives from T. O. Teke Law Office had previously petitioned the authorities for clarity regarding the specific allegations, the legal grounds for the invitation, and details concerning individuals named Bode and Kenny. They also sought documented evidence regarding financial claims tied to these figures. The case transfer to Abuja has effectively addressed previous concerns regarding the logistical burden of traveling to Lagos.

Legal expert Awele Chukwukaumemma noted that moving the probe to the national headquarters helps mitigate fears of bias, citing the principle of impartiality. She encouraged Otse to use formal legal channels for his requests rather than public platforms, noting his significant online influence. The Nigeria Police Force has not yet released a statement regarding the specific conditions requested by Otse’s legal team.
