Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of Manchester United, has placed a prohibition on Marcus Rashford transferring to any direct competitors within the Premier League. The club is intent on preventing the 28-year-old forward from bolstering the ranks of their domestic rivals.
Although Rashford has returned to Carrington for pre-season activities after a loan stint at Barcelona, his permanent status at Old Trafford is unclear. While Ratcliffe aims to lower the club’s salary expenditures by offloading the player, he has firmly ruled out transfers to clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester City, or Arsenal.
This policy also applies to temporary loan agreements. Consequently, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa have seen their inquiries rejected. Club leadership reportedly worries that Rashford could play a pivotal role in helping another team qualify for the Champions League, an outcome the organization would consider highly humiliating.
