Man Dies After Falling Into Well Following Alleged Spiritual Attack in Kano

The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of a 50-year-old man, Salisu Musa, who fell into a well in Gora Village, Madobi Local Government Area, reportedly during a spiritual episode.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, said the incident was initially reported by a fire officer named SFS Sadi Gora.

He noted that the rescue team from the Service Headquarters arrived promptly at the scene after receiving the alert.

“Upon arrival, they found the victim had already become unconscious in the well. It was gathered that he had been suffering from a demonic illness (Aljannu). During one of his episodes, he ran away and unfortunately fell into the well. He cried for help but no one came to his rescue on time,” the statement said.

The Fire Service confirmed that Maryam Bita was successfully rescued and promptly taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for medical attention.

She was reported to be in stable condition following the incident.

The Service commended the swift action of the residents who alerted them and reiterated the importance of community cooperation in emergency situations.

“Thanks to divine intervention and the quick response of our men, we successfully rescued her alive and rushed her to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for treatment,” the statement added.

She was later handed over to Police Constable Mu’azu Abdullahi of the Sabon Gari Police Division for further assistance and necessary follow-up.
