Mohamed Salah has been named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, marking his third win of the prestigious award. The 32-year-old Liverpool superstar received over 90% of the votes from the association’s 900 members.
Salah’s teammate Virgil van Dijk came second, followed by Newcastle’s Alexander Isak in third and Arsenal’s Declan Rice in fourth.
With 28 goals and 18 assists in 35 Premier League games, Salah has been instrumental in helping Liverpool secure their 20th English top-flight title, a significant achievement in manager Arne Slot’s debut season. This victory also brought Salah level with Thierry Henry for the most Footballer of the Year awards.
Van Dijk was the closest challenger to Salah, while Isak’s impressive 26 goals across all competitions played a key role in ending Newcastle’s 56-year trophy drought.
Arsenal’s Declan Rice earned recognition for his strong performances in both the Premier League and Champions League.
Additionally, 15 other players received votes, including Bruno Fernandes, Chris Wood, Alexis Mac Allister, Morgan Gibbs-White, Ryan Gravenberch, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jacob Murphy, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Murillo, and Dominik Szoboszlai.
