Election integrity concerns raised in Ekiti
Biodun Omoleye, who represents Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, has formally rejected the outcome of the recent All Progressives Congress primary election. He claims the process was marred by voter intimidation and systemic manipulation.
Through a statement issued by his media office, Omoleye urged national party leaders to launch an immediate investigation into the conduct of the polls. He argued that the Saturday election was severely compromised and failed to meet basic democratic standards, noting that supporters were harassed and denied the right to cast their ballots.
The lawmaker described the reported results as a stolen mandate, asserting that the manipulation of figures was designed to favor a predetermined winner. While Oladapo Karounwi was declared the winner with 6,573 votes by committee chairman Banjo Adedoyin, Omoleye insists the results do not reflect the true will of the constituents.
Omoleye has called for calm among his followers, promising to pursue justice through official legal and constitutional channels to protect the integrity of the party’s internal voting process.
