Laolu Akande, a former aide to the presidency, has publicly requested that Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, vacate his position due to his involvement in the ongoing fake agency scandal. Akande presented his stance during an appearance on the Channels Television program, Sunrise Daily, this past Thursday.
The call for resignation follows the apprehension of Adeniyi Adeyemi, an individual claiming to be the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). Akande emphasized that stepping down is a necessary act of decency for Gbajabiamila, his family, the President, and the general public.
Regarding the validity of claims made by the arrested suspect, Akande remarked that public trust is at risk while officials named in the scandal remain in their posts. He questioned the credibility of the investigation ordered by the President, suggesting that those under scrutiny should not remain in office while the process unfolds.
