Lagos Police Detain Eiye Cult Suspect and Seize Firearm

Lagos police arrested 27-year-old Yusuf Lamina Adigun, an alleged Eiye cultist, and seized a locally made pistol during a routine patrol in the Ijaiye/Ojokoro area.

Lagos State Police officials captured 27-year-old Yusuf Lamina Adigun during a routine traffic check in the Ijaiye/Ojokoro district. Officers discovered a handmade pistol containing a live round in his possession after stopping a motorcycle carrying three individuals. Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the arrest in a Saturday statement, noting that the operation is part of a broader strategy to diminish cult-related violence in the region.

Upon initial questioning, Adigun allegedly identified himself as a member of the Eiye Confraternity. He further claimed that he and his accomplices, who managed to flee the scene, were en route to execute an attack when the police patrol intervened. Law enforcement continues to hold the suspect while actively searching for the remaining gang members and any additional weaponry.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, emphasized the department’s dedication to proactive policing and the dismantling of criminal syndicates. He urged local citizens to maintain vigilance and assist law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities to bolster public security.
