The Lagos State Police Command has taken four individuals into custody who are linked to the Aiye Confraternity. The operation, conducted by the Violent Crime Response Unit in the Mushin district, also resulted in the seizure of a locally manufactured Beretta pistol and one live 9mm round.
Abimbola Adebisi, the police spokesperson, confirmed that the investigation started with the capture of Irawo Moshod. Moshod, described as a former leader within the Aiye group, reportedly confessed to participating in multiple murders throughout Lagos. His statements directed officers to locate his accomplices and the hidden weapon.
Following these leads, officers traveled to Idi-Oro to recover the firearm. Subsequently, three more suspects—29-year-old Abayomi James, 28-year-old Farouq Bankole, and 19-year-old Steven Sunday—were arrested near Ojuwoye. These three identified a man named Rilwan as their leader and the source of the recovered pistol.
Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai praised the unit for their effective intelligence-gathering. He declared the department’s commitment to breaking up criminal organizations in the state. Fatai issued a warning for all gang members to cease their illegal actions or face the full extent of the law. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious behavior to help authorities maintain order.
